TRELAWNY, Jamaica – Two men died and three others were injured Friday in a motor vehicle collision on the Salt March main road in Trelawny.
The police on Saturday identified the deceased as 47-year-old David Cunningham of Florence Housing Scheme and 30-year-old Alistair Burley of Hart Boulevard, both in St James.
Reports from the Falmouth police are that about 8:15 pm, Burley was driving a Honda Civic motor car along the main road towards Montego Bay, when he allegedly tried to overtake a motor vehicle and collided with a Toyota Picnic motor car, which was being driven by Cunningham.The impact reportedly caused Cunningham’s vehicle to overturn in a ditch, while the Honda collided with another motor vehicle — a Toyota Hiace motor truck.
According to a news release from the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communications Unit, when the police got to the crash scene, five people, including Burley and Cunningham, were taken to hospital.
Both Burley and Cunningham were pronounced dead, while two of the injured people were treated and released and the other admitted.
The police say investigations are ongoing.
